For a COP22 of action, for a permanent stakeholder’s forum

As the COP22 conference draws closer, most of the actors are getting impatient: everyone is waiting for the COP of action, from industry to civil society and the Moroccan presidency of the COP22 itself.  In this Op-ed published in L’opinion on the 10thof June 2016 , Joel Ruet (Chairman of the Bridge Tank), Adam Thiam (former chief of staff of the African Union president) and Matthieu Wemaëre (Lawyer, Peru’s adviser for the COP20 and Morocco’s advisor for the COP21) advocate for two operational tools. The first one has already been suggested by Morocco: the calibration of available information. They suggest a second one: to create a permanent stakeholder’s forum. Read more in French

COP 22 in Morocco : African solutions for Africa and the world ?

Morocco just announced its three top priorities for COP22, inviting partner countries to join the “Triple A” initiative : “Adaptation, Agriculture, Africa”. For the three co-authors of this OpEd published inJeune Afriqueon the 2nd of June, The initiative appears to be a major step although it has not been headlined by the media. It is the opinion of Joel Ruet, economist in the CNRS and Chairman of The Bridge Tank, Adam Thiam, former Chief of Staff to the African Union commission president and Matthieu Wemaëre, lawyer and adviser to Peru’s government for COP20, and to Morocco’s government for COP21. They believe it holds a promise of tangible, concrete and quick solution, and explain why.

The Bridge Tank attends the 2016 edition of the Moroccan Brand Conference

On the 27th of May 2016, The Bridge Tank attended the Morrocan Brand Conference. Co-inaugurated by the Morroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs Salaheddine Mezouar and the Minister for International Trade Abdelkader Aamara, our President Joel Ruet stated that, Morrocco being an emerging country, this status strongly influences new options of positioning in terms of exterior communications and attracting investments.

Dakhla – Food security: a global problem vs. continental focused solutions

The Crans Montana Forum, held in Dakhla, Morocco, from 17 to 22 March, was an opportunity for attendees to discuss South-South cooperation in Africa. They addressed the issue of African food security in a world that will have to feed 9 billion people by 2050.
